Job Summary
IT technicians diagnose, repair, and maintain hardware and software components to ensure the smooth running of computer systems.

IT technician responsibilities include installing and configuring computer hardware and being the primary point of contact for IT support within a company.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Installing and configuring hardware and software components to ensure usability.
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Ensuring electrical safety standards are met.
  • Repairing or replacing damaged hardware.
  • Upgrading the entire system to enable compatible software on all computers.
  • Installing and upgrading antivirus software to ensure security at the user level.
  • Performing tests and evaluations of new software and hardware.
  • Providing support to users and being the first point of contact for error reporting.
  • Establishing good relationships with all departments and colleagues.
  • Conducting daily backup operations.
  • Managing technical documentation.

Report to Manager,


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in computer networks and systems maintenance.
  • A+, Linux+, or Cisco Certified Network Associate accreditation advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in database programming and software installation.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good problemsolving skills.

Skills & Competencies

  • Provide telephone support related to networking or connectivity issues.
  • Research hardware or software products to meet technical networking or security needs.
  • Run monthly network reports.
  • Test repaired items to ensure proper operation.

To Manage:

  • Antivirus administration kit,
  • Backups for clients and servers
  • Firewall configurations
  • Automatic updates for software

Working Conditions
Most computer support specialists have full-time work schedules; however, many do not work during day only. Because computer support is important for businesses, many support specialists must be available 24 hours a day.
