investigations, compliance reviews, or insurance surveys. Lead or participate in risk studies and
conduct consequence analyses.
 Review engineering designs to ensure compliance with company and industry safety standards.
 Conduct on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
 Perform construction site and/or area safety inspections of department facilities and operations.
 Review work permits, conduct behavior-based safety inspections, and perform job site safety
compliance inspections. This includes hazard analyses, developing safe work procedures, and
preparing written reports and recommendations.
 Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures.
Recommend changes to eliminate workplace incidents and injuries.
 Review and analyze injury, property damage, and statistical loss data. Work with management to
develop comprehensive recommendations for corrective action to eliminate or minimize potential
hazards.
 Respond to emergency situations and incidents, during or after regular hours, to provide technical
assistance and advice.
 Participate in developing and promoting on- or off-job safety education programs to address
safety issues or concerns. This may include preparing articles, developing promotional materials,
and delivering presentations. Act as a mentor to other OE/compliance engineers.
 Participate in contractor prequalification evaluation activities and review contractor safety
submittals for compliance with corporate requirements
